CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There is some good news for consumers who are asking where’s the money. According to Consumer Affairs, prices of common grocery items have largely fallen or remained stable in the first half of the year.
Consumer Affairs says the items with the biggest drops were, peanut butter, white rice, and soda.

Here's the breakdown:
- Peanut butter fell from $4.02 to $3.29
- Bag of white rice: $5.20 to $4.86
- A 2-liter bottle of Coke: $3.11 to $2.89
Cookies and potato chips also had big drops this year.
Now not all grocery items dropped in price, though.
Some items with a higher price tag include:
- Bacon: $7.84 in January, but will now cost you $8.27
- Dozen eggs: Jumped from $5.45 to $5.56
So what's behind these grocery prices?
Consumer Affairs says it’s because commodity prices for raw foods have fallen. It also says these savings have offset higher wages for workers.
