The MyPayrollHR collapse has sent shockwaves through the New York business community and beyond, including in North Carolina.
The company's 4,000 clients and their employees across the country were hit with a confusing and frustrating situation on Sept. 5 as many people had direct deposits pulled back from their accounts — in some instances twice. And businesses are unsure if they can access their withheld payroll tax money.
The Clifton Park, New York, offices of MyPayrollHR and its parent company — ValueWise Corp. — are dark. And there's been no public word from its CEO, Michael Mann, a New York resident.
In North Carolina, HireFlux — a per diem nurse staffing company based in Wilmington that connected RNs with nursing homes -- appears to have shutdown. HireFlux contracted with around 300 nurses — 180 of whom were affected by the direct deposit reversals.
The story is incredibly complicated, with many layers and players. More than a week later, there are still few details about why this is happening, beyond "potential fraud."
