CLEMMONS, N.C. — A Triad town was named among the top four suburbs in North Carolina in a new study.
The personal finance website GOBankingRates released a new report on the top suburbs in each state in the U.S. Tops in North Carolina were Clemmons in the Triad metro; Clayton and Carrboro in the Triangle; and Harrisburg in the Charlotte metro.
To find the best suburbs in every state, GOBankingRates conducted a study analyzing the cost of living, quality of schools and safety in suburban areas surrounding the biggest cities across the country.
Factors in the study included:
- median home list price and median monthly rent, sourced from Zillow’s May 2019 index
- annual cost of groceries, health care, utilities and transportation, sourced from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ 2017-18 Consumer Expenditure Survey
- quality of school districts, sourced from Niche
- violent and property crime rates per 1,000 residents, sourced from Neighborhood Scout
