Triad furniture maker pivots to make masks for medical use

The production pivot is keeping employees working.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — What do the South Sea Outdoor Living & Oasis Home of Greensboro, with 25 employees, and Culp Inc. of High Point, with 1,100 employees, have in common?

Both are joining a national movement of companies large and small in pivoting their production lines to make protective face masks to aid in the fight against coronavirus.

With production slowed because of supply chain and demand challenges as a result of the economic upheaval caused by COVID-19, Culp, which makes bedding fabric products, announced last week that it would begin making fabric-sewn masks.
