GREENSBORO, N.C. — About 3,500 Mack Truck workers at five plants went on strike Sunday morning, representatives for United Automobile Workers confirmed. It is the first strike by Mack Truck workers in 35 years.
Workers are striking at Mack plants in: Baltimore; Hagerstown, Maryland; Jacksonville, Florida; Middletown, Pennsylvania; and Macungie, Pennsylvania. Mack Trucks is part of the Volvo Group, and both Mack and Volvo Trucks North America have headquarters in Greensboro.
The union said "unresolved issues include wage increases, job security, COLA, wage progression, skilled trades, shift premium, holiday schedules, work schedules, health and safety, seniority, pension, 401(k), health care and prescription drug coverage, overtime, subcontracting and temporary and supplemental workers."
