John Googe, who continued his family's legacy of giving and contributing to the Winston-Salem community, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement in Philanthropy award Monday by the North Carolina Triad Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Googe was presented the award during a luncheon celebration at The Grandover on National Philanthropy Day.
In 1926, Googe's parents and other members of the Centenary Methodist Church founded Winston-Salem Goodwill Industries to provide jobs and self-respect for men and women with disabilities.
