BURLINGTON, N.C. — Just over a year since signing its first lease, a North Carolina life sciences company is expanding its presence by 50 percent in the former GlaxoSmithKline campus in Research Triangle Park, growing its total office space to more than 300,000 square feet.
Burlington-based LabCorp (NYSE: LH) will grow its office holdings in the Parmer RTP campus, expanding an already significant investment made by the company in the area. LabCorp originally leased two buildings at the location in April 2018, and has now signed for an additional 111,0000 square feet off Moore Drive, according to Parmer Innovation Centers.
In 2018, when the company announced the first $30 million investment into the RTP campus, the company pledged to create more than 422 new jobs. At that time, the company leased 222,0000 square feet of office space. Reacting to long-held fears of the Triad potentially losing the life-sciences behemoth, the company told Triad Business Journal then that it remained committed to Burlington, Alamance County and the broader Triad. It's a position reiterated by CEO David King when he earlier this year announced plans to retire in November.
It is unclear how many new hires the expansion could bring to the Triangle.
