Taco truck owner talks disappointment after destructive fire

A fire damaged Luciano’s Taqueria and then the owner’s home. The owner talks about the damage and what’s next.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem food truck owner is trying to put the pieces back together and figure out what's next for his mobile business, after a fire this weekend destroyed one of his food trucks.

This has been a rough weekend Luciano's Taqueria owner Luciano Perez. Not only did he lose the food that he's owned for the last 12 years, but he lost his home in the process.

"I came home from work like I do every Friday. I came home I parked the truck, I checked and everything was all good, I went to bed maybe 1/130. Then by 6 o'clock I heard my neighbor knocking on my backdoor. The fire spread from the truck to the house, both on fire."

Luciano parks his truck next to his home everyday after work, so once his truck caught fire, his home was next to catch ablaze.

Both the truck and his home were total loses in the fire. Although the last few days Luciano has lost a lot, he's not ready to give up.

"I'm looking for a place to stay, after that, I'm back working on the other truck. I have to do that."

Luciano has been here in North Carolina for 20 plus years, and lost virtually everything in this fire.
