MEBANE, N.C. — A popular hot dog joint in Burlington is getting a new location in late spring.
Zack’s Hot Dog announced on its Facebook page that it’s moving into the Blue Ribbon Diner on Mebane Oaks Road.
Blue Ribbon Diner is closing its Mebane restaurant effective March 12. Zack’s Hot Dogs said it will begin renovations and reopen as Zack’s Mebane by late May 2023.
“After the passing of my friend and partner, we’ve decided to scale back operations by closing the Mebane restaurant,” said Randy Cox, owner of Blue Ribbon Diners and The Village Grill. “We knew the Zack’s team was searching for a suitable location for their Mebane restaurant, so our first call was to them…and a gentlemen’s agreement was reached immediately.”
The deal comes after Zack’s announced it would close its Holly Hill Mall location, just three months after opening it.
“The Blue Ribbon Diner building and location are exactly what we were looking for,” owner of Zack’s Hot Dogs John Burton said. “This also further explains the rationale behind the closing of our Holly Hill Mall location, as it no longer fit into our long-term plans.”
Zack’s Hot Dogs opened its original downtown Burlington location in 1928. Its new location on Mebane Oaks Road will sit right across the street from another hot dog joint, Jimmy's Famous Hot Dogs.
