LEXINGTON, N.C. -- The Magic Mart located on Parkway Plaza in Lexington will soon close its doors for good, according to a report from The Dispatch.
In a new release obtained by the newspaper, K.A. Ammar III, president of Magic Mart's parent company Ammar's Inc., said it was a hard decision to make.
"We are saddened to leave," said Ammar. "But we trust our employees will quickly be able to find employment with some of the other fine businesses in the area due to their superior work ethic.”
An exact close date has not been announced. The store's lease expires in a few months, according to real estate broker Dowell Finch with New South Properties.
Magic Mart sells a variety of goods including clothes, furniture, electronics, and sporting goods. The department store moved into a 90,000 square foot building about four and a half years ago.
The new Planet Fitness in the shopping plaza reduced Magic Mart's size to around 62,000 square feet.
Finch says New South Properties is open to any and all uses of the space.
