ASHEBORO, N.C. — Asheboro City Council and Randolph County Commission unanimously approved joint incentives of $2.1 million on Monday.

Energizer currently employs 411 people, this incentive would create 178 new full-time jobs by expanding equipment at their two Asheboro sites as well as other locations.

Additionally, Energizer would invest $43 million in personal property, machinery, and equipment as part of the expansion.

New Energizer employees will see a big boost from the average Randolph County salary of $43,000 to $54,000.

The proposed incentive would be paid in five $420,000 installments, split between the county and city. The incentive would be paid for by revenues in the general fund.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to continue our legacy, grow our legacy here in Randolph County,” said an Energizer spokesperson.

The changes will begin sometime in 2023 and then take three years to be implemented.
