Why laughter is important for you and your relationships

Blanca Cobb explains the benefits of laughter and how you don't have to be a comedian to get the benefits.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Today is a day to celebrate the laughter that brightens our lives because it's National She's Funny That Way Day! Laughter feels good, and it's good for your health. Studies show laughter reduces stress, boosts the immune system, and even strengthens friendships.

Sharing a good laugh creates a connection, a feeling of being in on something special. It builds memories and makes even tough times easier to handle. Think about inside jokes that you have with your friends.

If you don't think you're funny, realize that you don't have to be funny to have a good sense of humor. You can appreciate the humor of others. Support your funny friends, watch a comedy show, or even just crack open a funny book.
