GREENSBORO, N.C. — It's like nothing Greensboro has ever seen. Topgolf has been all the talk for months as golf fans waited to hear when their doors would open. Well, wait no more as they open officially this Friday, September 13.
"We have been more than excited to open our 102nd franchise here in the Triad," said Paul Owen Director Of Operations. "We were getting people stopping by daily and peeking from the street to see if we were open yet."
The Topgolf experience is unique. One of their talking points is that it's not just for golf fans.
"We take our overall experience very seriously and are committed to this being fun for everyone whether they follow the game or not," continued Owen. "The bar and food choices are top notch and we have everything from burgers and wings to flatbread pizzas and our famous cinnamon sugar donut holes with injectable flavors. We actually give you small syringes with pastry fillings and you inject the donut holes yourself."
But for the golfer out there it's an incredible setup and the technology will blow you away.
"So, our golf balls are trackable with a highly sophisticated tracking system since we have cameras everywhere and each ball has an embedded microchip so our cameras can follow the path," said Owen. "And then we have targets out in the field that if you hit will register a certain point value on the screen in front of you. That way you can compete with your friends. That's actually why we are called Topgolf. The first three letters stand for Targeted Oriented Practice."
