'I hope all the other babies are OK!' | Mom of student injured in school bus crash shares how he's doing

Nolan Chase Reid is recovering in the hospital after his school bus crashed in Graham.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Four students remain in the hospital after a school bus crashed in Graham on Thursday.

Nolan Chase Reid is one of the students recovering at UNC Hospital. His mom Brandi Williams said her son's jaw is broken, and he just started physical therapy Friday morning.

She said while he's in a lot of pain, the almost 9-year-old is in good spirits.

"I hope all the other babies are OK! We will be keeping them in our prayers," Williams said in a message to WFMY News 2's Hannah Jeffries.

Reid's mom said he may be able to go home in a day or two.

Bernie Prado's two daughters were also on the bus. He was just a few cars behind the bus when it crashed.

"I didn't see anybody going in to try to check, so what I did was I went in there and yelled for my daughter's name," he said.

Prado's girls were not hurt, but his daughter Lesley said the crash jolted her out of her seat.

"The bus like ran into a house and when that happened, we got very scared and we didn't know our mom and dad were behind us, and someone - our dad, he came and rescued our lives," Lesley said.

The crash injured seven students. Three of them have gone home from the hospital. All of them are expected to be OK.

Highway Patrol said the bus was on its way to B. Everett Jordan Elementary School when it ran off Highway 87 and crashed into a building.

The bus driver had minor injuries but is OK. Troopers charged him with failure to maintain lane control. They're still investigating the crash.
