GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, and people across the Triad are getting ready for the special day.
Mike Neal, owner of Hickory Tree Turkey BBQ in Greensboro, says he and his staff have been working for days to prepare for Thanksgiving.
"We did over a hundred birds this weekend," he said.
Neal specializes in barbecued, fried and smoked turkey.
Retailers are also preparing for the holidays.
Wednesday, crews at Best Buy put up barricades to help control holiday shopping crowds. This year, the store is open from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Thanksgiving; it reopens Friday morning at 8.
Whether you plan to spend the holiday shopping or eating, for many people, the most important part about Thanksgiving is spending time with family.
"Being around family, this time of year, especially, is just a good feeling in your heart," said Richard Hiatt, home from Raleigh for Thanksgiving.
