PFAFFTOWN, N.C. — That's right... there are Emus on the loose in the Pfafftown area. Not just one but multiple, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
Not to worry. They are harmless to humans.
The sheriff's office said the owner is responsible for returning them to their home.

In case you didn't already know, the emu is a large flightless bird similar to an ostrich. It is the second-largest living bird and the largest bird found in Australia, according to the Smithsonian National Zoo's website.
Emus have tiny wings, long necks, and only three toes.
Males produce long-distance calls that sound like "e-moo," while females create resonant, booming sounds.
The flightless birds will travel hundreds of miles to look for food and will lose weight doing so. They typically eat seeds, fruits, and flowers but will also eat insects and small vertebrates. They'll often eat charcoal, too!
