Sticking to your New Year Resolutions

Blanca Cobb, body language expert, explains how you can overcome the pressures of keeping your resolutions.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The start of a new year often comes with ambitious resolutions. And we get that sticking to these promises to ourselves can be a real challenge. If you find yourself struggling to keep your New Year's resolutions, you're not alone.

Let's explore common hurdles and practical tips to help you stay on track.

When your goals are too ambitious or vague, it's hard to follow through because you're unsure what to do. You have to have a plan to follow.

Don't let not getting started already become an excuse not to start.

Today is a great day to start. Just because you didn't start your resolution on Jan 1st doesn't mean it's too late. We're only 18 days into the year of 366 since it's leap year. That means that you have 348 days left. It's an issue of perspective. Not what you missed, but what's in front of you. To restart momentum, you must start doing anything towards your goal today.

You want to create a plan of action to handle a setback in your resolution. This means developing a specific plan to tackle the issues that led to the setback. Next, outline the steps you have to take to get back on track. And set reasonable deadlines.
