GREENSBORO, N.C. — Could the fourth time be the charm? The North Carolina Zoo certainly hopes so.
Nikita and Anana, the North Carolina Zoo's polar bears, are back together again in their enclosure. The two have spent the last three breeding seasons together, and the zoo hopes they get a bouncing baby bear on the fourth try.
Wild polar bears spend most of their life alone, but once January hits, it's time to find a mate. The zoo says wild bears typically seek each other out, so the situation is a little bit different for Nikita and Anana.
The polar bears will be at the zoo for all to see as breeding season continues. The season ends in march.
