Snow Shark becomes a picture spot

JAWS, made out of snow and spray paint is the backdrop of neighborhood pictures.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — While the Triad isn't getting the snow to play in, much less to even claim a "snow day", other parts of the nation have received more than their fair share. A family in Iowa decided to put that snow to good use.

Together, they made a replica of JAWS that is picture-worthy. People from all around came to see it and take pictures with it.

"I looked up snow sculptures. I didn't want to do anything plain. When I saw a shark online, I figured I could do that. So I gave it a shot and this is what we ended up with," said Carlos Maldonado, Snow Artist.

"I was packing the snow. Then next my dad spray painted it. My brother worked on the tiny fin over there," said Gale Maldonado, Carlos' son.

Gale and his little brother said they had to take breaks because it was so cold, but that hasn't stopped them from dreaming up their next snow sculpture.

"It was a lot of fun to make with my kids. I think other people could give it a shot. The kids are already planning to do an octopus or a banana split. With the next snowstorm, they want to do it by next weekend, but we'll see," said Maldonado.
