LEXINGTON, N.C. — A stranger's random act of kindness has been rewarded.
Devin Bennett of Lexington was having a rough start to prom night a couple of weeks ago.
Bennett's date canceled last minute so she had to drive herself. She had to make a last minute stop at the local Sheetz to fill up her car, while she was already dressed for prom.
That's when Sherry Allgood noticed her and stepped in to fill up the tank for her.
The story went viral, and officials at Sheetz even noticed. They decided that this random act of kindness needed to be rewarded.
Now both Bennett and Allgood have to be rewarded with free gas for an entire year.
