GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Here's some heartwarming news for your day.
Alexis Williams, a Senior Paramedic with Guilford County Emergency Medical Services, donated one of her kidneys to a friend in need!
"Paramedic Williams said that [she] never had any fear, doubt, or question about if she should go forward with the surgery after being identified as a match," wrote Guilford County EMS on Facebook. "She says that she saw her friend as a young woman with so much life ahead of her, but dialysis prevented her from doing pretty much all of the things she aspired to do."
She gave her friend another chance at life!
Thankfully, both women are recovering well and the donated kidney is functioning just as the doctors had hoped!
