MEBANE, N.C. — The Mebane Fire Department tackles more than just fires and medical calls. They also help rescue lost pups.
4-year-old Dixie, a Dachshund, had been missing for five days, her owner was worried about her whereabouts.
A neighbor heard Dixie behind their house and they discovered she was trapped in a small hole between concrete and an old underground pool steel panel.
They called the Mebane Police Department, who then reached out to the fire department.
Firefighters used several tools including the Jaws of Life to rescue Dixie.
Dixie is now back safely with her owner.
