Loved ones lean in on each other during vigil to celebrate the life of Natasha Walker

Friends and family gather to remember Natasha Walker as a wife, a mom, and a businesswoman.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Triad community gathered to remember the life of a Greensboro mother and entrepreneur Friday night.

Natasha Walker was shot and killed on New Year's Day. Around 2:00 a.m., police got a call about gunshots. Officers found Walker suffering from a gunshot wound near Cridland Road and Parkway Street.

In light of her shooting death, family and friends are calling for community action.

"Before you take somebody, just think, just think, just think, just think, there's somebody that loved this person, we miss her, we all feel like we're dreaming," Walker's family member stated.

The parking lot was full of family and friends stopping to share the 32-year-old's impact on their lives.

"She lived such a full life, this girl lived a life that some people don't even live in three lifetimes," said a friend.

The family says Walker was a wife and a mom who ran several businesses here in the Triad.

"Natasha wasn't just a community figure, Tasha was a mom, a wife, a sister," said Walker's friend Ingram Bell.

Attendees also showed support for the newlywed husband and two kids Walker leaves behind.

"When the noise fades and it's quiet, we're still going to be here supporting and being here for my brother and nieces."

Police say a suspect is in custody. However, they still have not released their name.
