‘I’ll Give Her Mine!” Cashier To Donate Kidney To Regular Customer’s Wife
Eddie Drummond is a regular at Wayne Lee’s Grocery. He drives from Mobile, Alabama and makes a special stop every morning.
He orders the same thing including a cup of orange juice, grits, eggs, and either a side of sausage or bacon.
One morning a cashier at the store noticed something just wasn’t right with Eddie.
He said, the cashier, Leilani Aguirre wanted to know why he was so sad.
“I said my wife wasn't doing good on dialysis and she needed a kidney transplant.”
That’s when the Leilani said the most unexpected thing, “I'll give her mine.”
Eddie was shocked. He’s been married to the love of his life now for 32 years. His wife, Donnie said she was diagnosed with kidney failure and went through dialysis before doctors told her she needed to get a kidney transplant as soon as possible.
That’s when Leilani and Eddie both surprised Donnie with the news.
Donnie said, Leilani showed up and asked her, “Is Eddie here? I said who? She said Eddie. I said baby what do you want with my husband?"
Donnie later burst into tears and screamed with excitement after learning Leilani was there to gift her with a kidney.
The act of kindness has brought the two families closer together in an unexpected way.
Eddie told Leilani, “You will always be a part of us because you put an extension of my wife's life and I can't thank you enough."
According to WLOX, the surgery will happen later in the spring at Oschner Medical Center in New Orleans.
