BURKE, Va. — A brother-sister duo who have both achieved the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America are getting us uplifted.
The coveted Eagle Scout rank is recognized globally as a milestone of dedication, hard work and accomplishment.
Meet 12-year-old Julia Haile and her older brother Matt Haile. They both recently had their Eagle Court of Honor ceremony. The siblings are from Burke, Virginia.
Julia is also among the youngest to earn the honor. Since 2019, girls have been able to earn the coveted ranking, and as of last year, around 5,000 girls have earned this distinction.
Becoming an Eagle Scout is no easy task. Scouts have to complete 21 merit badges, a large service project and show leadership skills.
Eagle Scouts are said to embody important core values that include being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, reverent and brave.
