Celebrating Valentine's Day with girl friends

Body language expert Blanca Cobb explains why spending Valentine's Day with your friends is okay.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — We tend to think of romantic couples when we think of Valentine's Day. But, for some women, they're putting the chocolates and roses aside to celebrate their female friendships. Galentine's Day is about celebrating the incredible bonds women share with their female friends. It's a day to ditch the societal pressure of Valentine's Day and focus on the love, laughter, and support women get from their gal pals.

There are lots of ways to celebrate Galentine's Day. Gather your girls for a brunch or potluck. Pamper yourselves with a spa day or DIY home spa treatments. Have a movie night or game night with popcorn and sweet treats. Volunteer together for a cause close to your heart.

You can most definitely celebrate Galentine's Day if you have a romantic partner. Celebrating your girlfriends and friendships doesn't detract from your romantic relationship. It's just a different kind of love and appreciation that you share with your girlfriends.
