National Hot Dog Day In The Triad At Kermit's Hot Dog House

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WFMY) – We all love these made-up food holidays giving us an excuse to splurge...

July marks #NationalHotDogMonth and it makes sense considering more than 150 million hotdogs are eaten on July 4th.

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council estimates Americans will eat 7 billion hot dogs between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day.

We’re bringing you a list of some of the best and favorite hotdog joints in the Triad to wrap up the month!

Note: This list was compiled based on a Facebook poll. If your favorite joint didn’t make the list, email webteam@wfmy.com with a picture and details.

Zacks’s Hotdogs (Burlington, N.C.)

Zack’s Hotdogs is a family owned restaurant that opened in 1928. That’s 85 years of hot dog experience! Viewer Billy Carter described it as “a simple dang good hotdog.” What more could you ask for? According to their reviews on their Facebook page (which has over 5,000 likes), a ‘combo dog’ is the way to go at Zack’s.

Kermit’s Hot Dog House (Winston-Salem, N.C.)

Two words: TOASTED. BUNS. That’s what you’ll get with every dog you order at Kermit’s Hot Dog House, “The All American Hot Dog.” Fan favorite? Kermit’s Famous Footlong Dogs! And don’t worry, if you’re craving hot dogs at 6AM, they’ve got you covered: their hours are Monday through Saturday from 6AM to 10PM.

Yum Yum Better Ice Cream and Hot Dogs (Greensboro, N.C.)

If more than 18,000 Facebook Likes and over 1,000 5-star reviews don’t make you wonder why they're a favorite, I don’t know what will. Actually, let me take that back: old-fashioned hot dogs, glass soda bottles and all. Located right across UNCG Greensboro, Yum Yum has been family-owned for over 100 years by the Aydelette family. Take a trip down memory lane Monday through Saturday from 10AM to 5:30PM.

P.B.’s Takeout (Winston-Salem, N.C.)

"TopDog of Winston-Salem Since 1987." Open Monday through Saturday starting at 11AM.

Jim’s Hot Dogs (Graham, N.C.)

Open Monday through Sunday from 11AM to 10PM.

Boone Doggies Food Truck (Winston-Salem, N.C.)

For the more modern, food-truck-loving hot dog eaters. Monday through Friday from 11AM to 3PM.

Pulliams Hotdogs & BBQ (Winston-Salem, N.C.)

Pulliams likes to remind you, "you are not just customers at pulliams you are friends." Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10AM to 5:30PM.

Hundley’s Grocery (Stoneville, N.C.)

The grocery store has been open for more than 50 years and has more to offer than just hot dogs. Open Monday through Sunday starting at 7AM.

Eden Drive-In (Eden, N.C.)

A simple, yet authentic old-fashioned concessions stand hot dog with a large variety of toppings to choose from.

Martinsville Speedway (Ridgeway, Va.)

It's got to be called "The Famous Martinsville Speedway Hot Dog™" for a reason.
