Family support and what happens when it fails

Blanca Cobb explains the importance of familial support and what happens if you don't have it.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Recently, the Kennedy family publicly gave their support to President Biden in his bid for re-election instead of to Robert F. Kennedy, their own flesh and blood. This got us thinking about the saying, "Blood is thicker than water," and if this really holds true anymore. What happens when that bond is tested, especially during personal ambition or pursuit?

Many people want support and encouragement from their families because it serves as validation and approval from those who love them. Their support means they believe in us and boost our confidence and motivation. Additionally, their support lets us know that our goals are worthy and achievable.

It can be hurtful when your family doesn't support you or your aspirations because part of your psychological well-being is based on their support. When that support is lacking, it can lead to feelings of isolation, self-doubt, and even resentment. However, it's important to remember that family support is the only determinant of success. If you don't have their support, this doesn't mean that you won't succeed. It might mean that your journey is a little lonely.

If you don't have your family's support, getting support from other people who believe in you is crucial. And most importantly, you have to believe in yourself and what you can achieve. Remember that pursuing dreams is a personal journey, and you can succeed alone.
