RALEIGH – A Surry County man is celebrating after hitting the Cash 5 jackpot.
Edward Burleson Jr. of Elkin is will split the $392,764 Cash 5 jackpot with one other winner.
Burleson bought the $1 Quick Pick ticket at the Elkin Mart on N.C. 268 West in Elkin. His was one of two tickets to beat the odds of one in 749,398 to win Monday’s jackpot.
He claimed the prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. His half of the jackpot is $196,382. After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $138,453.
The other winning ticket was sold at the Murphy Express on N.C. 581 N in Goldsboro.
