GREENSBORO, N.C. — The town of Oak Ridge is going to the dogs, and that's the plan, at least for Saturday The 10th annual Canine Capers event is happening on April 27, 2024, at the Oak Ridge Town Park.
"Canine Capers was started to raise money to make a dog park but after that was done, they continued to do it and all the proceeds go to rescue groups. This year it's Triad Golden Retriever Rescue and Ruff Love will be there along with a couple of other ones," said Caroline Currie of Dog Gone Fun.
Those rescue groups and others will be offering dogs for adoption.
The event starts at 9 AM at Oak Ridge Town Park at 6231 Lisa Drive. Admission is free. There are food trucks and vendors and such. The fundraising comes with paying for your dog to enter events like the dog show or the fun show which includes contests like best paw shaker, best tail wagger, best vocal performance, and other fun things.
"And then, of course, the pup cup ice cream eating contest which is the most fun! There are four events that you can do for $5 each, maze that you can get them to navigate, good citizen testing, and trick dog testing," said Currie.
One main point here, while the dog park is usually off-leash, this event at the Town Park requires all dogs to be on a leash.
