GSC Howler monkey dies

Augusta will be deeply missed, the Greensboro Science Center said.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greensboro Science Center is mourning the loss of one of their beloved Howler monkeys.

Augusta, a black howler monkey, 27, died Wednesday the GSC said in a post on social media.

Augusta was born at the Houston Zoo and arrived at the GSC in 2007.

She was joined by her older brother, Thurston, as part of the GSC's original Animal Discovery opening.

"During her time with us, Augusta touched the hearts of many staff and visitors with her spunky, easy-going, yet stubborn personality. She was always looking out for her enclosure mate, Abby, and never missed a chance to sunbathe or admire herself in mirrors. We’ll never forget her little grumbles while enjoying an oatball. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten, " said Keeper Laura.
