GREENSBORO, N.C. — This year, WFMY News 2 is turning 75 and we want to celebrate our viewers who are also turning 75!
This week, we're kicking things off with Johnny! Johnny turned 75 on April 14th. He was born and raised in Mt. Gilead, where he still lives today! He's an avid farmer who grows vegetables every year for the local community. His favorite hobby is fishing for flounder on the North Carolina coast. Happy birthday, Johnny!
Happy birthday Pete! He was also born April 14th. His family says he's a man who values family, friends, church, and community. He also helps make sure his siblings get together weekly! Happy 75th birthday Pete!
Then there's Mae Starks! She celebrated her 75th birthday on April 15th. She's from Greensboro and has 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren! Her favorite pastimes are sitting on the porch and watching The Young and the Restless. Happy birthday, Mae.
Happy birthday, Danny! He turned 75 on April 16th. He lives in Eden and has been married 53 years! He has two kids, four grandkids, and one great-grandchild. He's also a 20-year U.S. Army veteran. Thank you for your service and happy birthday!
Terry Bailey turns 75 April 18! She's married with two kids and loves being "nana" to her grandchildren. She is very passionate about education. After retirement, she decided to work part-time as an education specialist. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Happy birthday, Terry!
Happy birthday, Iris Knerr! She's turning 75 on April 20th! She was born in New Jersey but now lives in Kernersville! She enjoys time with her grandchildren and her sweet little dog, Olina. She also likes playing games on her computer, playing bingo at the senior center, swimming, and being involved at church.
Last but not least this week is Larry! He's also turning 75 on April 20th. He lives in Walnut Cove, is an U.S. Army veteran, and is a bee keeper! His family says he has a gift 'where he can find a "swarm" of bees hanging in all kinds of places.' They say finding a balance between caring for the bees and deterring black bears from the honey has been a challenge, but he's figuring it out! Happy 75th birthday, Larry!
