GREENSBORO, N.C. — This year, WFMY News 2 turns 75 and to celebrate, we are opening the New 2 Vault.
Typically, students have their first day of school in August. But, on January 29, 2008, some Guilford County students had their first day of school.
That was the day North Guilford High School opened. It was the only new high school included in the 2003 bond.
Northern opened with only 470 freshmen and sophomores from Northeast and Northwest Guilford High Schools.
The first day of school was also the team's first basketball game. The Nighthawks won a conference championship the following year.
