Vault Visit | Military Appreciation Parade

RALEIGH, N.C. — Today's Vault Visit takes us east to Raleigh.

On April 26, 2008, people from all over the state lined the streets of the state capitol for a parade.

It was a military appreciation parade. The one-and-a-half-mile route featured marching infantry and military bands, a military flyover and jets from Johnson Air Force Base! It was conceived as an event to help families who had lost a soldier in combat.

But it turned into more.

It was also a way for people to show appreciation for military members, past and present, and their families.
