GREENSBORO, N.C. — To celebrate WFMY News 2 turning 75, we are opening the News 2 Vault.
On April 10, 2014, the City of Greensboro launched its first mobile app.
The 'Fix It Greensboro' app lets people take pictures or videos to report things that need to be fixed in the city. That included downed trees, broken sidewalks, overgrown lots, graffiti, and even potholes.
The city hoped learning about issues more quickly would help them get fixed sooner.
In February 2018, the city launched the Greensboro Collects app for garbage and recycling collections. But the city realized the apps served similar purposes so in September 2018, they officially moved everything to the Greensboro Collects app.
On the Greensboro Collects app, residents can find everything they need to know about the city's recycling and trash collections.
They can also report other problems via The Tools app.
If you're not an app person, you can report these problems to the city's contact center by calling (336) 373-CITY.
