GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — On May 7, 1968, the Guilford County Civil Defense Department sponsored a course in explosives!
Police, Fire, and Civil Defense personnel from the area gathered to learn about different types of explosives. They learned about everything from Molotov cocktails to nuclear weapons.
After some classroom sessions, members of the 18th Ordinance detachment from Fort Bragg let them see explosives in action.
Organizers said while the classroom sessions were helpful, they thought the demonstrations would be more memorable.
