Aug. 16, 2006 was a day of celebration and excitement for northeast Greensboro! It was the day Walmart opened a new supercenter on Cone Boulevard.
North Carolina A&T's band and dance team added to the excitement. And there was no shortage of customers!
The store brought a much-needed economic boost to a part of Greensboro that had been hurting for business - and it created 400 new jobs in the area.
That grand opening came 30 years after the grand opening of the Carolina Circle Mall, which it replaced.
