GREENSBORO, N.C. — Time to open the News 2 vault! On this day in 1990, Trekkies took over part of the Triad.
Hundreds of people showed up for Trekfest and to meet James Doohan, who played "Scotty" on "Star Trek."
"To me, 'Star Trek' was special, but not to the degree that is has come today. But it was special in that the scripts were fabulous, it was such a pleasure to work on great scripts," said Doohan. "And that's all a good actor needs, a terrific script."
Doohan also appeared in the "Star Trek" movies.
