WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — As WFMY News 2 turns 75, we are opening the News 2 Vault.
On July 29, 1972, aviation fans experienced a special treat at Winston-Salem's Smith Reynolds Airport.
An airshow let people get up close and personal with some unique planes and helicopters. Many sat on their chairs or cars and looked to the sky.
They saw people in parachutes jump out and pilots in planes performing tricks. Many even got to walk in a helicopter.
You can't help but be impressed with the world-famous blue angels on hand to perform later in the day.
