On July 25, 1978, WFMY News 2 spoke with Richard Petty as his team made a major switch!
Petty and his team made the decision to switch from the Dodge Magnum to the Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
His team started working to rebuild the car's engine and chassis.
Their goal was to have it race-ready the next month.
Over the course of his career, Petty drove in multiple vehicles.
He raced in an Oldsmobile Convertible, Plymouth Fury, Belvedere, Superbird, and Road Runner.
He also had the Dodge Magnum, Buick Regal, and Pontiac Grand Prix.
