Vault Visit | High Point police unveil pink patrol car in 2017

On January 3, 2017, The High Point Police Department unveiled its pink patrol car supporting cancer-impacted employees.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — This year WFMY News 2 turns 75! So, to celebrate, we're opening the News 2 vault.

Every day this year, we'll show you a film clip or video from WFMY News 2's past!

Today, a short walk down memory lane to 2017.

This is when we shared the story behind the High Point Police Department's special pink patrol car. They rolled it out in October of the previous year.

They created it in honor of three department employees who battled and beat breast cancer.

"We don't know specifically the suffering that they go through, but we can see the effects of it, and from what I can tell it means a lot to have support," Kenneth Shultz, former High Point Police Chief said.

The department hoped the car supported cancer-impacted employees and served as a community conversation piece.
