Vault Visit | 9/11: Attacks on the World Trade Center

September 11, 2001 was a day that our nation changed forever.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — This year WFMY News 2 turned 75!  So to celebrate, we're opening the WFMY News 2 vault.

September 11, 2001 was a day our nation changed forever.

That day, terrorists attacked America, flying planes into New York City's Twin Towers and the Pentagon.

A fourth plane crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania before reaching its target.

Here in the Triad, Greensboro's our Lady of Grace Church was one of several churches that opened its doors that evening.

300 people came to that service alone, to gather, to reflect, and to pray.

The next day, we learned one of the 9/11 victims was from the Triad.

Sandy Bradshaw was a flight attendant on United Flight 93.

She died when the plane crashed in Shanksville.

She was 38 years old.
