GREENSBORO, N.C. — This year WFMY News 2 turns 75! So to celebrate...we're opening the WFMY News 2 vault.
On Feb. 24, 2015, the Triad was expecting a dusting of snow...But we got that and then some!
The area got more snow than anticipated which transitioned to sleet and freezing rain by mid-day. People around the city woke up to much more!
As the day went on the roads looked clear, but they were really slick!
Greensboro police responded to more than 97 traffic crashes by noon that day.
One woman who saw six crashes from her home gave this bit of advice.
"Be careful as you drive and stuff cause you only have one life, so just try to look out for others as they look out for you," she said.
This snow was only the beginning.
Two days later, several inches of snow fell across the Triad, leading to more crashes and massive power outages.
