At the end of June 2017, people around the Triad were looking for a pair of missing secretary birds.
The birds escaped the North Carolina Zoo the month before.
The birds stood about 5 ft. tall and resembled road runners.
For weeks, the zoo received calls about secretary bird sightings.
Some people even got pictures!
From the looks of the pictures, zoo officials said the birds appeared to be eating and looked healthy.
But they never returned to the North Carolina Zoo.
