Vault Visit | NC A&T students donate to Haiti earthquake victims

Some NC A&T students knew exactly how to help.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — This year, WFMY News 2 turns 75!

So to celebrate we're opening the WFMY News 2 vault.

Today in our vault visit... An example of college students making a difference.

On Jan. 12, 2010, a  7.0 magnitude earthquake rocked Haiti.

The following day, two North Carolina A&T students were already finding ways to help.

"As a Haitian American, it makes me realize I have an opportunity now as SGA president and it's my opportunity to give back, I'm not saying that we can go out and give thousands of dollars, but every little bit counts," said one of the students.

The two A&T students had parents from Haiti and family still on the island.

They started "Project Haiti" to collect clothes, canned goods, and water to send to relief efforts.

That earthquake was one of the deadliest natural disasters in history, killing more than 300,000 people.
