On March 3, 1990... Crews battled a massive fire at a barn on the North Carolina A&T farm.
The barn was used to house young calves before they ventured out into fields on their own.
A six-week-old calf died in the fire.
At the time, A&T officials said they didn't know if re-building the barn would be covered by insurance...
The beef cattle unit is one of seven areas of study for A&T's College of Agriculture and Science students.
The university's 492-acre working farm raises crops and livestock and is used for both research and education.
