GREENSBORO, N.C. — This year... WFMY News 2 turns 75! So to celebrate... We're opening the News 2 vault.
In March 1968... The Ice Capades came to Greensboro!
The Ice Capades were a theatrical ice skating performance show.
They often featured former Olympic and US national champion figure skaters who retired from formal competition.
WFMY talked with ice skater Greta Borgen.
She was a champion skater from Norway... And she liked the weather here in the triad!
"I love the climate here... everybody said it was going to be cold, but I got a better suntan here than I got in Miami last week. I think this is a wonderful place," said Borgen.
The Ice Capades stopped touring in the early 90s after competition from tv, and similar shows like Disney on Ice.
