GREENSBORO, N.C. — Last month... WFMY News 2 turned 75! So to celebrate... We're opening the WFMY News 2 vault.
Sept. 19, 1975, was a unique moving day in Guilford County.
What was moving? Jail inmates.
Sheriff's deputies were transferring inmates from the old Guilford County Jail to the new facility on Eugene Street.
Though the facilities were just blocks apart... Dozens of deputies and marshals oversaw moving the 75 prisoners.
They loaded them into vans in small groups and then took a convoy to the jail.
