GREENSBORO, N.C. — This year... WFMY News 2 turns 75! So to celebrate... We're opening the WFMY News 2 vault.
May 25, 2015, was a day that brought a bit of closure to some Greensboro families.
It's the day the city dedicated the historic marker recognizing the Greensboro Massacre.
The shooting happened on Nov. 3, 1979, when protestors prepared for a demonstration against the KKK in the Morningside Homes neighborhood.
Five people died during a confrontation.
On the day of the dedication, the marker hadn't officially been placed yet.
But it now stands very close to where the shooting happened on McConnell Road.
