Vault Visit | Greensboro implements curfew after protests

It started following two days of protests demanding justice after the death of George Floyd.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — This year... WFMY News 2 turns 75! So to celebrate... We're opening the WFMY News 2 vault.

On June 1, 2020, the city of Greensboro joined many cities around the state and nation in implementing a curfew.

It started following two days of protests demanding justice after the death of George Floyd.

The initial protests started peacefully but turned destructive.

Police said outsiders looted and vandalized at least 75 businesses along the Elm Street corridor.

So in response, city officials implemented an 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.

Mayor Nancy Vaughan rescinded the curfew about a week later.
